Depression is so much more than just being sad

Depression is so much more than just being sad.

It’s not being able to get out of bed in the morning: not because you’re lazy but you’re physically incapable of moving a muscle. It’s withdrawal from social interactions because you feel that your illness will affect others around you, so you just stop trying to make connections.

It’s shelling out thousands for therapy and medication without the assurance that you will get better.

It’s being nervous when you’re happy because you know that the bad times are just waiting around the corner to knock you back down on your ass.

It’s feeling everything and nothing at all.
